Today was my second time at the school for the observation process. Let’s start…
The first class was an English language class, and the students were in 7th grade. The number of students was eight in the classroom. The teacher started with greetings and asked them how they are feeling and about the ongoing activities at the school that day. It was Carnival Week. After greetings, she started reviewing the last class and the homework that she had given them before, later, she encouraged them to start working together to check their homework. It was like an introduction part for the class and students got ready for the lesson.
Her class was about Reported Speech in English, so to illustrate it more and let the students practice in a fun atmosphere she started an activity. Since it was a Mafia Game activity, it took a long time. Before starting, she provided clear and enough instructions to avoid misunderstandings. During the activity, she was walking around and made sure that everyone is collaborating on the activity. %95 of the communication was in the English language, meanwhile, students used some Polish too. In terms of students’ engagement, they were well engaged. Concerning scaffolding and differentiation, almost the same for all of the students except for more explanation for some students.
The second class that I observed was PE. Since it was a carnival week, students made up teams and they had different activities of acting and dancing. The teacher started with them by asking them to get themselves ready and start practicing. During their preparation time, the teacher visited the teams and helped them to get ready. She was coping with them to make the acts and dances better. The teacher was supportive and she provided helpful feedback. To wrap up the class, she chose a group with the best dance and asked them to teach other students the same dance.
Thank you!
